Alaskan Jade (nephrite) is a fascinating gemstone and the state gem of Alaska. In prehistoric times, prized for its toughness, jade was used to make weapons and tools and later, simple ornaments. Jade purportedly can protect you from evil, attract love and, of course bring good luck. Now, it is regarded as a symbol of energy and beauty, stimulating creativity and mental agility, along with harmony and balance. The jade we use comes from the Nana Region of Alaska.

The Wooly Mammoth was a large prehistoric creature which roamed the earth over 25,000 years ago. Resembling our modern day elephant they had long shaggy coats and large curved tusks often exceeding ten feet in length. Now extinct their remains are occasionally unearthed in the northern hemispheres with their long ivory tusks in tact. Over the years the ivory has taken on a variety of colors including tans and greys which give it a totally unique grain. Scarce and difficult to work this ivory makes a truly unique piece of jewelry with a history all its own.

Due to the nature of the Jade and Mammoth ivory, each pendant will vary in coloration.
