Sea Turtle Stud Earrings, Silver and Fossilized Walrus Ivory
Sea turtles are among our favorite creatures for their benevolent nature and the wisdom they seem to represent. To glimpse one of these gentle giants gliding between the waves is to spend a peaceful moment in harmony with the sea. These beauties often remind us to take life at a more measured pace and to be at one with our current surroundings.
Our designers selected fossilized walrus ivory to represent these turtle stud earrings for the material's earthy quality and unique history. Fossilized walrus ivory is 500 to 3,000 years old, and it has spent much of its life buried underground where minerals color it the earthy caramel and cocoa shades we see today. Native peoples gather this prized fossilized ivory, and it is carved the world over into walrus ivory earrings such as this pair or other fine art works.
Sterling silver is a natural match for the fossilized ivory's natural luster, bringing out the best in this ancient material. This pair features a stud setting, backing, and post in sterling silver, ensuring consistent quality throughout.
